The API is really cool but doesn't contain directors' information about the corporation. Is this possible just adding this features in the future update?

Hi Ren, Unfortunately the department has no plans at this time to add details concerning directors to the dataset. In any case, this may be something they will consider in the future. Open Government Team

Thank-you for the update re. the file size and file count.

Hello, Has there been a change to the OPEN_DATA_SPLIT.zip file? The file is now 59MB and contains 33 XML files. It used to be 104MB and contained 59 XML files. Is the file incomplete or is there a problem with the download process. Thanks.

Thank you for your feedback and inquiry. We have forwarded your comment to the dataset provider for their response. Tasha, the Open Government Team

Hello - below is a reply from the data holder: The dataset was updated to ensure it was properly aligned with data responses gathered from the Federal Corporations online search. As a result some archival information (such as address history) has been removed, resulting in a smaller file size. Hope this is helpful, Karin open-ouvert team

Hi - The report frequency is weekly, however it looks like the dataset hasn't been updated for over a month: cc:corpcan reportId="OPEN_DATA" date="2016-03-02T03:00:01.865-05:00" Thanks

Alex, There was a technical problem which has been resolved. The dataset is now up to date. Thanks for letting us know! Karin - open-ouvert team

Would love to do a query without having to download the entire 100 MB of XML periodically, do you have the CKAN datastore extension enabled? http://docs.ckan.org/en/ckan-2.2/datastore.html#the-datastore-api So I can query via HTTP client like so: http://open.canada.ca/data/api/3/action/datastore_search?resource_id=0032ce54-c5dd-4b66-99a0-320a7b5e99f2

Greg, The data holder appreciates this suggestion. Unfortunately, they do not have an API to query the dataset. However, they will certainly look into implementing this enhancement and thank you for the suggestion. Karin - open-ouvert team

My previous post on the Dec 6, 2015 was about the directorID issue. A change has been made but now the director XML is worse - here's an example: Not sure whether a change has been made to fix the directorID issue and broken this or whether this is the solution?

Thank you for highlighting the issue for us again Steve, we've notified the data owners and will get back to you shortly. Yassine, on behalf of the Open Government Team

Hi I note the comment below about directorIDs but it doesnt seem to be correct. The directorIDs appear to relate to each director of a corporation. I have an example Corporation where 2 of the 3 directors resigned earlier this year but the XML still shows 3 directors. If I check on Corporations Canada it just shows the 1 active director. I think the XML needs to be enhanced to show for each directorID if the director is still active and the date the director resigned if inactive. If this is not possible then the XML should only show directorID for active directors and not all historic directorIDs.

Thank you for your feedback. We have forwarded your comment to the dataset provider for their response. The Open Government Team

Where can I find information about corporations created under financial legislation (such as financial institutions, insurance companies or loan and trust companies) or those created under provincial, territorial or other corporate legislation?

Thank you for your feedback. We have forwarded your comment to the dataset provider for their response. The Open Government Team

Hi Steve, Thanks for your comment. The dataset owner, Industry Canada, has provided us with the following response to your query: - The update frequency for this dataset is weekly. The most recent version was posted October 7, 2015. - The Open-Ouvert team

The update frequency shows as weekly however this hasnt been updated since the 26th Sept. Is the update frequency weekly or something else?

The XML contains directoID numbers that appear to represent the names of the directors, which are (or should be) a matter of public record. But there doesn't seem to be any way to correspond these IDs to real names. What's up?

Thank you for your comment. The following response has been posted on behalf of the data owner : "The director IDs do not correspond directly to a director. They correspond to any change that is applied against a director record. While director information is not available through open data, this information is available on the public search. https://www.ic.gc.ca/app/scr/cc/CorporationsCanada/fdrlCrpDtls.html?corpId=3725596&V_TOKEN=1441117721736&crpNm=Canada&crpNmbr=&bsNmbr= Thank you, The Open Government Team

Could you add more details about the amalgamated corporation data -- we're seeing some strange data in there which doesn't accord with what's on the Corporations Canada website (or supply email address we can send you details).

That would be great, thank you. You can send any comments and questions to open-ouvert@tbs-sct.gc.ca.

Hi, full dataset as JSON would be super helpful (and modern). Thanks.
