This looks like it might be of interest to many Canadians who travel. Did you go out of your way to find a format that would make it inaccessible to most of them?

Hi John thank you for your comment. The department publishes it's datasets in the following 3 formats: XML, CSV and EXL. They are currently in the process of cleaning all these datasets in the near future (hopefully by this summer) and they are making all efforts possible to clean and update the travel advisory dataset. Regards, Momin, the Open Government team.

Can this dataset be made available as a csv file? Or provide a tool that can do the conversion? I am not a developer/programmer.

Had issues parsing this data in javascript. The "-" symbol found in naming convention wasn't readable.

The following response has been posted on behalf of the data owner : Here are suggestions on how to parse the dataset in JavaScript: a. If you are trying to call a JSON object that contains “-“ in the object name. Solution: Calling the JavaScript syntax accordingly should provide the appropriate result data. data["1000"].country["country-iso"] b. If the user is calling a JSON array list that contains “-“ in the name. Solution: Calling the JavaScript syntax should provide the appropriate result data.data["1000"].country["offices-help-abroad"].eng["closing-text"] Thank you, Data.gc.ca
