It seems as though the numbers for males and females were incorrectly inputted for British Columbia. Will these be updated?

Hi Heather, The following response has been posted on behalf of the data owner: "Hello, please note that each Province/Territory data total is displayed below the respective regional data, enabling the reader to view the report from the top down. Thank you." -Tasha, the Open Government Team

The data is not available in machine readable format, can you provide a more developer friendly format for this data?

Hi Dana, The following response has been posted on behalf of the data owner: "Thank you for your comment. We will consider including your suggestion in our assessments. " -Tasha, the Open Government Team

I am interested in education level as I am working as a volunteer job mentor with immigrants. Is there any report that provides education level for only those seeking employment, i.e., excludes students, retirees, etc? Thank you.

Chester, Here's the response we received from the data holder: Thank you for your comment. At this current time, we do not have this information readiliy available. If you have further questions, please contact Statistics-Statistiques@cic.gc.ca. Best wishes, Karin -open-ouvert team

Is there data available on Refugee resettlement (all refugees, not just Syrian) that can be drilled down to the municipal, profile level? This would be helpful

Nicole, Here's a response from the data holder: Thank you for your comment. Resettled Refugees datasets are available by Province/Territory and include CMA level breakdown. Please refer to the Resettled Refugees record in the following link: http://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/4a1b260a-7ac4-4985-80a0-603bfe4aec11. For further breakdown, please contact Statistics-Statistiques@cic.gc.ca. Best wishes, Karin - open-ouvert team

Hello, I wanted to understand what is the difference in tabulation between CMA level breakdown and CMA of Settlement Provider Organizations level breakdown. Specifically, why is one breakdown less than the other (e.g. for Toronto) and how is CMA of Settlement Provider Organizations being calculated? Thank you.

Thank you for your comment. The Admissions of Syrian Refugees by P/T, CMA and Immigration Category refers to the admission of Syrian refugees by the Canadian province/territory, census metropolitan area and by immigration category. The Syrian Refugee Settlement Service Clients by SPOs, P/T, CMA and Immigration Category refers to the admission of Syrian refugees by the province/territory, the census metropolitan area where they received settlement services. If you have further questions, please contact Statistics-Statistiques@cic.gc.ca.

Hi my question about the new announcement by 21 December 2016 concerning Syrian and iraqi exemptions for providing UN refugee proof, did the 1000 target is achived (This temporary public policy expires one year after it is signed, or once applications for 1,000 foreign nationals, that is principal applicants and their family members, are received by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship for processing under this temporary public policy.)

Are there any statistics on the monthly average number of private sponsorship applications received by IRCC; specifically, those affected by the 1,000 limit?

Hi Joel, the following is a response by IRCC: Thank you for your comment. The data for the Privately Sponsored Refugees (PSRs) category of the temporary public policy that accounts for 1,000 foreign nationals (principal applicants and their family members), received by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada, will be reflected in the Syrian Refugee Resettlement record. The Admissions of Syrian Refugees and Syrian Refugee Settlement Service Clients by SPOs tables are updated on a monthly basis. Currently, data is updated up to October 2016. The dataset on “Admissions of Syrian Refugees by P/T, CMA and Immigration Category” in particular, will reflect the 1,000 foreign nationals affected by the temporary public policy. As the policy was renewed on September 20, 2016 for an additional year, data will be reflected on these datasets on a monthly basis. We apologize for the delay in answering your question. Regards, Momin, Open Government team.

Could you please explain why Gatineau is in the list of Ontario? Thank you!

Hi, thank you for your question Jonathan. Can you let us know which dataset you are referring to? In the following dataset "Admissions of Syrian Refugees by P/T, CMA and Immigration Category" Gatineau appears to be under Québec. Momin, Open Government team.

I believe the dataset should be complete as Canadians don't normally wish to politicize the numbers by listing only the totals since the election of a new government.

Hi Gerry, thank you for your comment. This dataset refers to the number of Syrian refugees arriving in Canada as part of the Government of Canada's Syrian refugee resettlement program which officially began towards the end of 2015. There are no current released dataset on the total of Syrian refugees prior to this initiative. We recommend you use the following form http://open.canada.ca/en/forms/suggest-dataset to suggest the dataset you are looking for. Thank you. Momin, Open Government Team.

Regarding open border to immigrates, I too feel immensely bad for all the less fortunate in the world and pleased that we in Canada are able and wanting too help by opening our borders to them, however, someone must set some sort of limit to the number of those entering our country because of cost. I understand that this may not seem an issue to you and others because of individual financial wealth and feeling the government budget can handle the cost. Tax payers like me who live on fixed income and face constant living increases with no increase to our income am only sure coming tax increases to pay, have come to our limit. Please consider closing the open border concept and do limit the number and do something for our own poor, health care costs and please provide some mindful increase to veteran pensions to name a few. Do try to get back on budget. Thank you for your time

Hi, In the file IRCC_Syria_0012_E.xls, the data for "Ottawa-Gatineau" under Ontario include the Gatineau QC figures, while Gatineau QC is missing from the Quebec listings. In the original IRCC web postings of the data, Ottawa ON was listed separately. Would you be able to correct the Excel file accordingly? Thanks in advance.

Hi Damaris, your observation has been forwarded to the data owner for review. Should they decide to respond, we will post an update here for you. Stay tuned! Thank you, Momin, Open Government team.

Is there any information available about the deportations of the Syrian refugees? Unfortunately I couldn't find any. I would need it for my homework assignment in English... Thanks for the help!! Amira

Hi Amira, I could not find any datasets that detail deportation of Syrian refugees. I have forwarded your inquiry to the data owner and will let you know if they find something. Please note that it may take some time for the data owner to respond to my email so if your assignment is time sensitive I recommend you look for alternative sources. Best of luck! Momin, the Open Government team.

Thank you for your comment Amira. Deportation statistics are kept by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). I recommend contacting CBSA directly. - IRCC
