Status

Status of Open Government Plan milestones (complete, substantial, limited, not started)

Substantial:

  • 2.1 Develop a central website where Canadians can submit personal information requests to any government institution, with first phase of roll-out targeted for 2018.
    • Development of a central website where Canadians can submit personal information and access to information requests to any government institution is underway. TBS has completed the prototype for the website and is now adding additional functionality to enhance user experience based on user testing.
  • 2.2 Implement a 30-day guarantee for requests for personal information, backed by a commitment to provide a written explanation to the requester and the Privacy Commissioner should a request take longer than 30 days to fulfill.
    • Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) officials are finalizing guidance for institutions to implement the 30-day guarantee. The guidance will reflect consultations with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and government institutions.
Challenge
  • Integrating over 200 institutions to a central ATIP request website poses a significant challenge to our ability to achieve this commitment within the timeline.
