Can you please reply to my question: Where can we find the number of refugees settled based on country of origin?

Please see below, response to your question provided on 2017-11-14. Thank you.

I have been trying to get some numbers of age group but the only numbers are under 17 and 18 years and over. Is there a way to have exact age in each category age at arrival like children, teenager, young adults, etc.? This for different migration status...

Thank you for your comment Yvy.

You will be able to find the numbers of resettled refugees & protected persons in Canada by age group in the following record "Facts & Figures 2015: Immigration Overview - Permanent Residents – Annual IRCC Updates " : http://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/2fbb56bd-eae7-4582-af7d-a197d185fc93
In particular, the following datasets will show the numbers of 'Resettled Refugees and Protected Person in Canada' by detailed age group:
"Canada – Permanent residents 15 years of age or older by age and category ": http://www.cic.gc.ca/opendata-donneesouvertes/data/IRCC_FFPR_09_E.xls
"Canada – Permanent residents 15 years of age and under by gender, age, category ": http://www.cic.gc.ca/opendata-donneesouvertes/data/IRCC_FFPR_07_E.xls

Where can we find the number of refugees settled based on country of origin?

Thank you for your comment Tareq.
The "Facts & Figures 2015: Immigration Overview - Permanent Residents – Annual IRCC Updates" record includes the "Canada – Permanent residents by category and source area" dataset that may be of interest to you: http://www.cic.gc.ca/opendata-donneesouvertes/data/IRCC_FFPR_13_E.xls .
Currently, a more detailed list of resettled refugees by country of citizenship is not available on the Open Data Portal, but we may incorporate this suggestion in future enhancements to the Open Data Portal.
In the meantime, you may be able to obtain this information by emailing the Statistics-Statistiques@cic.gc.ca mailbox with a detailed description of your request.

Hi!

Does this data includes Syrian refugees or is that a seperate program?

Thanks!

Thank you for your comment Daniel.
Yes, the "Resettled Refugees – Monthly IRCC Updates" datasets include Syrian and non-Syrian refugees. Resettled refugees are those who arrived in Canada as part of the Government of Canada's Refugee and Humanitarian Resettlement Program. For data on Syrian refugees only, please see the "Syrian Refugees – Monthly IRCC Updates" datasets here: http://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/01c85d28-2a81-4295-9c06-4af792a7c209

Are there plans to release national level data on the age of arrival of refugees? I realize that we lose the geographic detail this way (due to identity disclosure issues), but a national picture of the age distribution of refugee arrivals would be very helpful for research and policy purposes.

Hi Lori,
Thank you for your comment, I have passed it on to the data set holder and will reply once I receive a response.
Thank you,
Regards,
Sabrina Nash - Open Government Team

Thank you for your suggestion. We will consider adding this dataset in future updates to the Open Data Portal. In the meantime, you may be able to obtain this information by submitting a request to IRCC for custom data. To do so, please email the Statistics-Statistiques@cic.gc.ca mailbox with a detailed description of your request.

Is this data available in Raw format. Without any aggregations or roll-ups?

Thank you for your comment Joe. Due to privacy considerations, data are aggregated and rounded to the closest multiple of 5 with values between 0 and 5 being shown as “--“. This is done to prevent individuals from being identified when IRCC data is compiled and compared to other publicly available statistics.
