Engaging with Black communities on Canada’s Black Justice Strategy - Online survey complementing the community-led consultations Justice Canada is developing Canada’s Black Justice Strategy (the Strategy or CBJS) to address anti-Black racism and systemic discrimination, which has led to the overrepresentation of Black people in the criminal justice system (CJS), including as victims of crime. The goal of the Strategy is to help ensure that all people in Canada have access to equal treatment before and under the law, as guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. As part of the development of the Strategy, Justice Canada undertook consultations with Black communities across Canada. A component of these consultations was an online survey developed to complement the community consultations, for those who were unable to attend the engagement sessions.
