The CRTC requires that applicable wireless service providers, cable/satellite/internet protocol television providers, and radio and television broadcasters, collectively known as last-mile distributors (LMD) participate in the National Public Alerting System (NPAS). The CRTC is responsible for enforcing the regulations and regulatory policies that require LMDs to distribute emergency alerts. Consequently, the Commission has identified the implementation of NPAS as one of the key criteria used to assess and report on the industry's annual compliance to its NPAS requirements. This data set summarizes LMD participation in the public alerting system, as well as the number of staff investigations initiated with respect to resolving matters of NPAS compliance of LMDs.
