The Radionuclide Information Booklet provides practical information for radiation protection specialists at facilities licensed by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC). It contains information pages for radionuclides commonly used in the medical, research and industrial sectors, organized by atomic number.
This booklet is made up of several individual information sheets, organized as one-radionuclide-per-page. Each sheet includes information on: radiation characteristics, external and internal dose constants and coefficients, clearance and exemption quantities, detection methods, and safety precautions. These information pages may be posted at CNSC-licensed facilities as a convenient way to quickly find information. This booklet does not replace CNSC regulatory requirements outlined in a CNSC licence, the Nuclear Substances and Radiation Devices Regulations, or the Radiation Protection Regulations.
As this document is periodically updated, please ensure you have an up-to-date version listed on the Government of Canada’s Open Government portal.
