Strategic Environmental Assessments
Strategic environmental assessments (SEA) provide a comprehensive and systematic approach to incorporating broad-scale environmental considerations from multiple sources into strategic-level planning and policy documents.
Parks Canada conducts SEAs on all national park, national marine conservation area, and national urban park management plans. SEAs of management plans provide a forward looking, broad scale evaluation of cumulative effects to ensure the management plans address the key issues for ecological integrity or ecological sustainability, now and into the future.
