Request Number: A-2020-09675

Request Summary: Please see attached letter. While my request pertains to prison records. I would appreciate any advice you might have as to how I might begin my search in other areas eg. immigration and deportation. I am requesting access to information for Isaac Johann Braun, born March 21 1886 in Halbstadt Russia. Isaac immigrated to Rosthern Saskatchewan with his family in July 1924 and was party to ten trials with H. P. Friesen pertaining to fraud, perjury, and fabrication of evidence. The trials took place between 1925 and 1928. I am requesting all records regarding CSC interactions with Isaac Braun between 1925 and 1933. This would include correspondance, interview transcripts, visitors, ethnocultural, chaplaincy, and language services, health status, etc. Where possible I prefer e-copies. To the best of my knowledge: * Isaac was first arrested on October 13, 1925 for perjury at the Court of King's Bench, City of Saskatchewan by Detective David Sommerville of the Saskatoon City Police Force. * On Oct. 9 1926 (Saskatoon), Isaac was convicted of perjury and sentenced to a five-year term at the Prince Albert penitentiary. On Dec 3, 1926, Isaac Braun was released on bail in the sum of $14 000. * On Oct 26, 1928, In Prince Albert, Isaac Braun was sentenced to serve five years in the penitentiary for fabrication of evidence. * On Oct 25, 1932 Isaac was discharged and, accompanied by immigration officials, brought by train to Montreal. He set sail from Montreal on the Montrose Oct 271932.
