Request Summary: In March 2018, the Department updated its form for Consent for an Access to Information and Personal Information Request (IMM 5744). One of the primary changes was the introduction of mandatory consent of both parents for information about a minor child. Please provide information that was used by the IRCC ATIP Division to review and reconsider its consent policy for ATIP requests for information about a minor child. Including information that was used to study the issue, and to consult with others (internally and externally). Also provide information as to why age of 18 historically had been used as the age of consent for ATI requests. Since ages of majority differ federally and provincially, provide information as to how selecting the age of 16 was determined.
