Request Summary: Provide from May 1, 2018 to October 23, 2020 Manila embassy records on specific Canadian mining companies and metals and mineral exploration mining companies involved in the Philippines. Provide from May 1, 2018 to October 23, 2020, draft and finals MOUs, agreements, declaration forms that Canadian mining companies or Canadian mineral and metal exploration companies operation in the Philippines have signed with the Canadian government, Global Affairs or the Manila embassy to operate with integrity and in a corporate socially responsible manner in their Philippines operations and activities. Include the most recent 2018-2020 instructions Manila embassy personnel have to act as human rights defenders; to perform corporate social responsibility duties, to enter into contracts with integrity clauses; to facilitate civil society groups’ efforts, and about how they stack up as corporate social responsible mining companies especially given environmental and human rights abuses; and about the companies’ agreements and relations with Philippine authorities. Include Embassy reviews, reports in concerns raised about the human rights and environmental impacts of Canadian mining companies in Philippines, including the use of “red-tagging” Filipinos raising concerns. Provide from May 1, 2018 to October 23, 2020 exchanges with, discussions and meetings held between the Manila embassy and Canadian mining companies and Canadian mentals and mineral exploration companies or their subsidiaries involved in the Philippines or their trade association groups concerning Canadian mining companies and Canadian mentals and mineral exploration companies or their subsidiaries concerns about getting their projects moving or about criticism of their projects. That to include their concerns about suspension and closure orders imposed by the Philippines Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and where applicable concerns about cancellation of mineral production sharing agreements, Financial and Technical Assistance Agreements, and concerns about continued Philippines mining regulatory, environmental and socio-economic reviews underway. Provide from May 1, 2018 to October 23, 2020 GAC review of concerns Oceanagold or others have raised about: • The withholding of an FTAA (Financial and Technical Assistance Agreements) for OceanaGold’s Didipio copper-gold mine; the blockade of OceanaGold’s Didpio copper-gold mine by villagers from Didipio; and the “red-tagging” of Filipino citizens in relation to their opposition to their activities in the Philippines. • As well, provide from May 1, 2018 to October 23, 2020 Manila embassy funds provided to the Canadian mining companies and Canadian metals and mineral exploration companies, including via local initiative funding
