During an exercise (I believe it was RIMPAC 96) all Canadian & International participant ships were forced to take shelter / return to port early due to a severe storm. The CO of HMCS Cowichan opted to return to CFB Esquimalt. During the return voyage from the central west coast of Vancouver Island to Victoria, HMCS Cowichan sustained significant damage to the ship, several crew members were injured and MARS training officers were aboard forced to remain in their mess deck. I would like to receive any information, damage repairs, injuries to sailor, circumstance/decision making reports that were generated regarding this event.
