Please find attached an access to information request: From 1975 to 1991, the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada ("DIAND") subsidized a residence called "Pavillon Notre-Dame-de-la-Route », located in Louvicourt in Abitibi, where he installed the children of the Algonquin community of Kitcisakik (formerly known as Grand-Lac-Victoria) so that they attend the school located on the Algonquin reserve of Lac-Simon. We are aware that the Director of Analysis and National Research in the Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada Directorate of DIAND conducted research at the National Archives of Canada in connection with a request under s. . 12 of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement. His response cited the following document: RG 10, ACC.2002-00101-4, Box 2, File 301/6-1, ptie. 8. We would therefore be grateful if you would send us any relevant documents contained in accession 2002-00101-4 deposited at the National Archives of Canada. We also know that the Department of Health Canada carried out inspections there to assess general sanitary conditions, notably on May 1, 1985, as part of its Indian health services monitoring program. Medical Services for the Quebec Region also had bacteriological analyzes of water samples taken at the residence, including on May 27, 1985. We would be grateful if you would send us all the documents in your possession concerning the residence of Louvicourt, including any document concerning the planning of its operation or concerning its closure.
