I request the current IRCC policy on the portal time stamp in the context of temporary residence (work permits, study permits, and visitor records) extensions and restorations. Specific, which of the following is departmental policy: 1) the application must show that the date of receipt was the day of expiry or before in order to benefit from the automatic extension of status under R183(5). The Department uses Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) for the time and date of receipt of electronic applications. or 2) As time zone is not specified anywhere, for applications such as extension of temporary resident status or restoration, the client has until 11:59:59pm of their local Canadian time on the day the document expires to submit their application. That being said, the application will arrive in IRCC¿s systems in EST. Therefore, if there is a discrepancy of a couple of hours or minutes, the officer may manually check the local time the application was submitted.
