The IRCC has a Business Resumption Committee that decides when a Visa Application Centre (VAC) may open. At the International Network section of the IRCC there is a "VAC unit" which is managed by Nadine Bennett and Jacynthe Lachance and located at 360 Laurier Avenue West Ottawa, Ontario K1P 1C8. We expect that one of both person as well as Sophie Morin and Michale Chung are also part of the Vac Unit and the Business Resumption Committee. In the enclosed e-mail it is explained that the VAC Unit evaluate 4 factors when they make a decision to open a VAC or not to open it: 1. COVID-19 Situation in the VAC country 2. Local Government's response to the current epidemic 3. The social-political Context in the VAC country 4. The health and safety of clients and VAC and IRCC staff given local conditions. On 6 July 2020 it was decided that the VAC unit in Pretoria South Africa will remain closed. Please send all information about this these 4 factors that was considered by the Business Resumption Committee in the meeting referred in the enclosed e-mail dated 6 July 2020. Please also provide copies of any information provided by the visa section at the Canadian High Commission in Pretoria to the Business Resumption Committee or the VAC unit at IRCC in Ottawa prior to this meeting.
