Birney died in 1995. As a public intellectual and poet, this is well documented, for example http://canaduan-writers.athabascau.ca/english/writers/ebirney.php Birney was a member of the Left Opposition (i.e. Trotskyists) in Toronto, Vancouver and Salt Lake City during the 1930s. He sometimes used the pseudonym E. Roberston. I am seeking a copy of any files maintained by the RCMP regarding Birney and his political activity.
