In 2018, Laurentian Bank of Canada ("LBC") repurchased mortgage loans that it allegedly had inadvertently insured and sold into Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s (“CMHC”) securitization programs. LBC’s repurchased mortgage loans represented a total dollar amount of 223M$. We seek to understand the greater context within which those repurchases fit into CMHC’s securitization activities, inclusive of those of Canada Housing Trust (“CHT”). Thus, we hereby request, under the Access to Information Act, information concerning CMHC’s securitization activities under both the National Housing Act Mortgage-Backed Securities (“MBS”) and Canada Mortgage Bonds (“CMB”) programs. For greater clarity, each request where CMHC’s activities are concerned shall include those of CHT as well. Likewise, each requests concerning MBS activities shall concern both of CMHC’s aforementioned programs. More specifically, we request the following information: 1. From 2010 to 2022, the dollar amount of CMHC’s outstanding MBS, per year. 2. From 2010 to 2022, per year: 2.1. the number of different MBS issuers; 2.2. the dollar amount of outstanding MBS for each MBS issuer. 3. From 2010 to 2022, on an aggregated basis and for each MBS issuer, per year: 3.1. the number of mortgage loans repurchase requests made by CMHC; 3.2. the total number of mortgage loans which were targeted in one or more repurchase requests made by CMHC; 3.3. the total dollar amount of all mortgage loans which were targeted in one or more repurchase requests made by CMHC; 3.4. the total number of mortgage loans which were ultimately repurchased; 3.5. the total dollar amount of all mortgage loans which were ultimately repurchased.
