I would like to obtain information on all cases in which the Minister has used their discretionary power under section 5(4) of the Citizenship Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. C-29) to grant citizenship. I understand there may be privacy and confidentiality concerns about sharing the details of the case files. I am not interested in the identity of people who were granted citizenship but I would like to know the number of cases, the date of the decision, and the country of origin. Timeframe: from the entry into force of the Citizenship Act in 1977 (when the 1947 Act was repealed) to the date of ATIP submission (February 17, 2021).
