Requesting copies of all the material VAC draws upon to ascertain if a Second World War service-person has qualified for the "Pacific Star" campaign medal. In particular, the following information: - lists of units (eg., RCN ships, army regiments/corps, RCAF squadrons, etc) which qualified as a whole for the Pacific Star, because of particular service, along with the qualifying dates of such service; - lists of specific military operations or campaigns, participation in which qualified a service-person for the Pacific Star, along with the corresponding qualifying dates; - the formal boundaries demarking the geographic limits within which sea, land or air service qualified a service-person for the Pacific Star, along with the qualifying dates for each; - in particular, a clear explanation of the eastern-most limit of sea service in the Pacific Ocean which would have qualified a service-person for the Pacific Star; (eg., 180 deg longitude; or three miles off of the West Coast of North and South America; or service west of a line projected due south from the eastern most point of the Hawaiian Islands, etc); - any changes, amendments, clarifications or other modifications to the qualifying criteria (for sea, land or air service) for the Pacific Star, which were put in place after the original qualifying criteria were promulgated (ie., after 1946). All records related to the following federal interdepartmental committee's discussion of the federal approach to the Ring of Fire. The interdepartmental committee is chaired by CanNor, CanNor's Northern Projects Management Office acts as secretariat. These meetings and the committee are referred to in the passage quoted below from a previously released ATI (2021-027): "A federal interdepartmental committee at the Assistant Deputy Minister / Director General level has been established to ensure a coordinated, whole-of-government approach to resource development projects occurring in the territories and northern parts of provinces. The committee is chaired by CanNor and has members from all affected departments including CIRNA, Environment Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Natural Resources Canada, Transport Canada and INFC. CanNor's Northern Project Management Office acts as the secretariat and meetings are held at least once a quarter. The federal approach to the Ring of Fire has been discussed by the committee on several occasions."
