I am interested in the federal penitentiary case file record of Marcel Aveline. Finding aid information: TITLE/DESCRIPTION: Marcel Aveline. REFERENCE NUMBER: RG73 1985-86/162 1. Aveline was born between 1910 and 1914 in Québec, and was repeatedly incarcerated at federal prisons in Québec and Ontario between the late 1920s until c. 1970. Aveline was a well-known figure in the 1930s and 40s, leading highly public protests at federal prisons. As a frequent prisoner, Aveline was only the second Québecois (and one of the first nation-wide) to be designated a 'habitual offender' and given a life sentence. His time in prison coincides with enormous changes in the Canadian penal system, so I hope his case file will be revealing of these broader trends.
