Completed Access to Information Requests

Transitional Period

Federal departments are moving their web content to Canada.ca. As a part of that process, proactive disclosure reports will become available through the Open Government portal.  During this transition, if a proactive disclosure report from a specific department is not yet available on the Open Government portal please refer to Proactive disclosure by department or agency where a copy can be found.  For any questions on this issue, please contact us at open-ouvert@tbs-sct.gc.ca .

Req # 1025-AC2018-009

We have received a request for the following information: "On the withdrawal of the Consumer Code provisions in the Department of Finance's Bill C-29 in mid-December 2016, the Minister of Finance tasked the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) with engaging provincial and territorial regulators and other key stakeholders to Identify best practices that could strengthen the federal financial consumer protection framework. According to Michael Toope of the FCAC in an email to me dated July 26, 2017, "A report (on best practices) has been rendered and is currently with the Minister of Finance." Assuming the FCAC met the deadline of May 29, 2017 to complete the report and forward it to the Minister, the Minister/Ministry has had the report for 3 months for review. I would like to be sent a complete electronic version of the FCAC report by email by September 15 for background for a post I am writing on consumer banking issues.”
