ApplyBoard simplifies the study abroad search, application, and acceptance process by connecting international students, recruitment partners, and academic institutions on a single platform. The company was founded in 2015 by brothers Martin, Meti, and Massi Basiri, who came from Iran to study at post-secondary institutions in Canada.

The company has grown to become the world’s largest online platform for international student recruitment and has helped 120,000+ students to pursue their dreams of studying abroad. ApplyBoard has partnerships with 1,200+ primary, secondary, and post-secondary educational institutions, and works with 4,000+ recruitment partners to drive qualified applicants and diversity to campuses across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

To develop the platform, particularly the student scoring system, ApplyBoard uses open data on study permit holders and visa application processing time from Immigration and Citizenship Canada. This system uses this information to predict the likelihood of the student’s student permit applications being accepted.

Additionally, the student creates a profile that includes their unique academic background, interests, and financial capacity which is used to match the then to schools and programs where they’ll be most successful.

ApplyBoard uses open data to help streamline the international education application process. By focusing on the student, ApplyBoard gathers information and presents them with opportunities at partner schools in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia where they qualify and have the highest chance of success.
