Library of Parliament

The Library of Parliament Catalogue, previously not available to the public has just been made available. The Catalogue provides an overview of the Library of Parliament collection and information about service Parliamentarians. The link itself is hidden, and not easily accessible without extensive assistance from an individual familiar with the site. As this is a new addition to the public holding, it would be advantageous to point to the site via the Open Government Portal.

Here is the link:

It just seems like it could be a neat thing to add. Yes, access to certain functions are limited but for Canadians, it would be neat to allow them a preview into what our parliamentary library produces and holds.

I'm a librarian that works with historical government publications on a daily basis. It is disappointing that the Library catalogue is not available publicly. It would be a very useful tool for librarians in identifying historical Canadian publications. In some cases the Parliamentary Library is likely the only holder of a title. I urge you to consider opening this incredible resource to the public. Thank you for your consideration.
