Dressed Weight/Whole (Round Weight) Relationships for Halokvik River Arctic Char (Cambridge Bay Region, NU)

Dressed Weight/Whole (Round Weight) Relationships for Halokvik River Arctic Char (Cambridge Bay Region, NU) Commercial and exploratory fisheries for Arctic Char, Salvelinus alpinus, provide significant economic opportunities for Nunavummiut in several Nunavut communities. Having an accurate understanding of the weight of the Arctic Char that are harvested is important for tracking harvest and for understanding how biological parameters may be changing over time as a result of exploitation and/or climactic and environmental changes. Unfortunately, most fish enter the processing plants as dressed (gills and viscera removed) and therefore conversion factors have to be applied to reconcile whole (round) weight from dressed weight. Here, we provide an updated conversion factor based on linear regression for Arctic Char from the Halokvik River (locally known as 30 Mile) near the community of Cambridge Bay. This conversion factor can be used moving forward as the Halokvik River continues to be commercially harvested. 2023-07-11 Fisheries and Oceans Canada les.n.harris@dfo-mpo.gc.ca Nature and EnvironmentScience and TechnologyFishAquatic SciencesSalvelinus alpinusArcticFisheriesFisheries resourcesArctic Ocean A Dressed Weight to Round Weight Conversion Factor for Commercially Harvested Arctic Char (Salvelinus alpinus) from the Halokvik River, NunavutPDF https://waves-vagues.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/Library/40879112.pdf Fork length and weight measurementsESRI REST https://gisp.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/arcgis/rest/services/FGP/Dressed_WeightWhole_Relationships_for_Halokvik_River_Arctic_Char/MapServer/0 Fork length and weight measurementsESRI REST https://gisp.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/arcgis/rest/services/FGP/Dressed_WeightWhole_Relationships_for_Halokvik_River_Arctic_Char/MapServer/0 Data dictionaryPDF https://pacgis01.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/FGPPublic/Dressed_WeightWhole_Relationships_for_Halokvik_River_Arctic_Char/DataDictionary_DictionnaireDonnees.pdf Dressed Weight/Whole (Round Weight) Relationships for Halokvik River Arctic Char (Cambridge Bay Region, NU)CSV https://pacgis01.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/FGPPublic/Dressed_WeightWhole_Relationships_for_Halokvik_River_Arctic_Char/Fork_Length_and_Weight_Measurements.csv
