30-year Average Growing Degree Days (GDDs), Base 15

30-year Average Growing Degree Days (GDDs), Base 15 Growing Degree Days (GDDs) are used to estimate the growth and development of plants and insects during the growing season. Insect and plant development are very dependent on temperature and the daily accumulation of heat. The amount of heat required to move a plant or pest to the next development stage remains constant from year to year. However, the actual amount of time (days) can vary considerably from year to year because of weather conditions. Base temperatures are a point below which development does not occur for the organism in question. Base 15 temperatures are commonly used for general insect development. These values are calculated across Canada in 10x10 km cells. 2024-04-22 Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada aafc.agri-geomatics-agrogeomatiques.aac@agr.gc.ca Nature and EnvironmentScience and TechnologyAgricultureFarmlandsPrecipitationCropsTemperature Data Product Specification (English)PDF https://agriculture.canada.ca/atlas/data_donnees/climateNormals/supportdocument_documentdesupport/en/ISO_19131_30_Year_Climate_Normal_Data_-_Data_Product_Specification.pdf Using AAFC Climate Services (English)PDF https://agriculture.canada.ca/atlas/data_donnees/agClimate/supportdocument_documentdesupport/en/Using%20AAFC%20Climate%20Services.pdf Pre-packaged GeoTif files (No linguistic component) monthlyGeoTIF https://agriculture.canada.ca/atlas/data_donnees/climateNormals/data_donnees/tif/monthly/lt_gdd15/ Data Product Specification (French)PDF https://agriculture.canada.ca/atlas/data_donnees/climateNormals/supportdocument_documentdesupport/fr/Donnees_climatiques_normales_derivees_30ans_SPC_ISO_19131.pdf Pre-packaged GeoTif files (No linguistic component) annualGeoTIF https://agriculture.canada.ca/atlas/data_donnees/climateNormals/data_donnees/tif/annual/lt_gdd15/ Pre-packaged Maps (English)PDF https://agriculture.canada.ca/atlas/data_donnees/climateNormals/maps_cartes/en/lt_gdd15/ Pre-packaged Maps (French)PDF https://agriculture.canada.ca/atlas/data_donnees/climateNormals/maps_cartes/fr/lt_gdd15/ Climate normals interactive mapsHTML https://agriculture.canada.ca/atlas/climate-normals-interactive-maps Climate normals interactive mapsHTML https://agriculture.canada.ca/atlas/cartes-interactives-normales-climatiques
