A watershed, also known as a catchment basin, includes all land that is drained by a watercourse and its tributaries. Watersheds are split into four categories: * primary * secondary * tertiary * quaternary These divisions are based on the federal framework originally known as the Water Resources Index Inventory Filing System. Ontario has 3 primary watersheds: * Great Lakes – St. Lawrence * Southwestern Hudson Bay * Nelson River Secondary watersheds are subdivisions of primary watersheds in Ontario. Most secondary divisions are either large river systems or groupings of small coastal streams. Tertiary watersheds are subdivisions of secondary watersheds in Ontario. Quaternary watersheds are subdivisions of tertiary watersheds. There are more than 1000 quaternary watersheds in Ontario. 2024-05-15 Government of Ontario Economics and Industryenvironmentenvironment and energyEnvironment and Natural ResourceswatershedGovernment information Original metadata (https://data.ontario.ca)HTML https://data.ontario.ca/dataset/61c188ec-a939-4acd-9b06-8fe9b017b70c Original metadata (https://data.ontario.ca/fr)HTML https://data.ontario.ca/fr/dataset/61c188ec-a939-4acd-9b06-8fe9b017b70c Watershed - User GuidePDF https://data.ontario.ca/dataset/61c188ec-a939-4acd-9b06-8fe9b017b70c/resource/5e7fa880-fde5-4fdb-a481-d64d696d549b/download/watershed_-_user_guide.pdf Watershed, Primary (Shapefile) | Bassins versants primaires (Fichier de formes)ZIP https://ws.gisetl.lrc.gov.on.ca/fmedatadownload/Packages/WTRSHPRI_SHP.zip Watershed, Primary (File Geodatabase) | Bassins versants primaires (Géodatabase fichier)ZIP https://ws.gisetl.lrc.gov.on.ca/fmedatadownload/Packages/WTRSHPRI.zip Watershed, Secondary (Shapefile) | Bassins versants secondaires (Fichier de formes)ZIP https://ws.gisetl.lrc.gov.on.ca/fmedatadownload/Packages/WTRSHSEC_SHP.zip Watershed, Secondary (File Geodatabase) | Bassins versants secondaires (Géodatabase fichier)ZIP https://ws.gisetl.lrc.gov.on.ca/fmedatadownload/Packages/WTRSHSEC.zip Watershed, Tertiary (Shapefile) | Bassins versants tertiaires (Fichier de formes)ZIP https://ws.gisetl.lrc.gov.on.ca/fmedatadownload/Packages/WTRSHTER_SHP.zip Watershed, Tertiary (File Geodatabase | Bassins versants tertiaires (Géodatabase fichier)ZIP https://ws.gisetl.lrc.gov.on.ca/fmedatadownload/Packages/WTRSHTER.zip Quaternary watershed boundaries (Shapefile) | Limites des bassins hydrographiques quaternaires (Fichier de formes)ZIP https://ws.gisetl.lrc.gov.on.ca/fmedatadownload/Packages/WTRSHQUA_SHP.zip Quaternary watershed boundaries (File Geodatabase) | Limites des bassins hydrographiques quaternaires (Géodatabase fichier)ZIP https://ws.gisetl.lrc.gov.on.ca/fmedatadownload/Packages/WTRSHQUA.zip Far North Quaternary Watersheds (Shapefile) | Bassins hydrographiques quaternaires du Grand Nord (Fichier de formes)ZIP https://ws.gisetl.lrc.gov.on.ca/fmedatadownload/Packages/FNQUA_SHP.zip Far North Quaternary Watersheds (File Geodatabase) | Bassins hydrographiques quaternaires du Grand Nord (Géodatabase fichier)ZIP https://ws.gisetl.lrc.gov.on.ca/fmedatadownload/Packages/FNQUA.zip
