Extent of Canada's wetlands – Wetland extent, Canada

Extent of Canada's wetlands – Wetland extent, Canada The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Extent of Canada's wetlands indicator is a measure of the extent of Canadian wetlands, and provides a baseline from which change can be measured. A wetland is defined as a land that is saturated with water long enough to promote aquatic processes as indicated by poorly drained soils, hydrophytic vegetation and various kinds of biological activity which are adapted to a wet environment. Information is provided to Canadians in a number of formats including: static and interactive maps, charts and graphs, HTML and CSV data tables and downloadable reports. See the supplementary documentation for data sources and details on how those data were collected and how the indicator was calculated.
