DNA Identified Benthic Macroinvertebrate Taxa Lists

DNA Identified Benthic Macroinvertebrate Taxa Lists This dataset, in part, is composed of aquatic benthic macroinvertebrate taxa lists generated as part of the Sequencing the River for Environmental Assessment and Monitoring (STREAM) project (see www.STREAM-DNA.com for more details). Benthic macroinvertebrate sampling was based upon existing Canadian Aquatic Biomonitoring Network (CABIN, https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/canadian-aquatic-biomonitoring-network.html) benthic biomonitoring protocols, with additional steps to minimize contamination and ensure sample preservation. Sampling was carried out by community based organizations, Indigenous led organizations, federal government agencies and partners. This resulted in the collection of bulk benthic macroinvertebrate samples from streams, rivers and wetlands. Taxa lists are based on DNA metabarcoding taxa identification by the Hajibabaei Lab, University of Guelph. The dataset provided includes both field measurements and processed and filtered taxa lists generated from DNA identified aquatic benthic macroinvertebrate data. Further technical information about this dataset is available in the DNA identified taxa list technical information.txt file. Data is from Environment and Climate Change Canada, other federal agencies, partners and CABIN participants. Data collected by the federal government is available on Open Data and others are adding their data on an on-going basis. The .csv files are updated as needed.
