Violent crime severity

Violent crime severity **This dataset is no longer compiled by the Ministry of the Solicitor General.** Data from the Police Reported Crime Severity Index. Measures changes in the level of severity of crime in Canada from year to year. In the index, all crimes are assigned a weight based on their seriousness, based on actual sentences handed down in all provinces and territories. Serious crimes are assigned high weights while less serious offences have lower weights. As a result, serious offences have a greater impact on changes in the index. The violent Crime Severity Index includes all Incident-based Uniform Crime Reporting Survey violent violations. Data is compared to the 2006 baseline. The data can be accessed from [Statistics Canada](https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=3510002601). 2024-07-24 Government of Ontario Government and PoliticsJustice and Public SafetyLaw and safety Metadata recordother http://www5.statcan.gc.ca/cansim/a26?lang=eng&retrLang=eng&id=2520052&pattern=&csid= Violent crime severity (2008-2012)CSV https://files.ontario.ca/opendata/1314-010_violent_crime_severity_index_csv_2008-12.csv Registre de métadonnéesother http://www5.statcan.gc.ca/cansim/a26?id=2520052&pattern=&csid=&retrLang=fra&lang=fra Gravité des crimes violents (2008-2012)CSV https://files.ontario.ca/opendata/1314-010_french_violent_crime_severity_index_csv_2008-12_0.csv
