The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) collected samples of grated hard cheese to verify accurate representation. Samples of grated hard cheese were tested for the presence of the food additive cellulose (a form of insoluble fibre), which is allowed to be used as an anticaking agent but, if present beyond levels permitted in the Food and Drug Regulations, may indicate adulteration. Samples were tested for fibre content using rapid enzymatic-gravimetry.
