This collection of data consists of projects assessed by class-screening or screening-type environmental assessments carried out under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 1992.
These assessments were previously archived on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry. Both the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency and other authorities had the responsibility to post certain information on the Registry.
A screening was the most common type of assessment for projects subject to a federal environmental assessment. The process was managed by other authorities in order to determine the significance of adverse environmental effects from the project.
The class-screening process streamlined the environmental assessments of certain types of projects. The Agency determined if these types of projects were not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects as long as the design standards and mitigation measures described in the class screening report were applied.
Information about other types of assessments is available on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry.
