Regional Ice-Ocean Prediction System

Regional Ice-Ocean Prediction System The Regional Ice-Ocean Prediction System (RIOPS) is based on the NEMO-CICE ice-ocean model and produces regional sea ice and ocean analyses and 84 hours forecasts daily based at [00, 06, 12, 18] UTC on a subset of the 1/12° resolution global tri-polar grid (ORCA12). RIOPS assimilates data (gridded CCMEP analysis SST product, SLA from satellite altimetry, in situ observations) using a multivariate reduced order Kalman filter and includes a 3DVar ice concentration analysis (assimilating satellite remote sensing and Canadian Ice Service ice charts). Atmospheric fluxes for 84 hours forecasts are calculated using fields from a blending of the Regional Deterministic Prediction System (RDPS) and the Global Deterministic Prediction System (GDPS). 2024-04-04 Environment and Climate Change Canada ECWeather-Meteo@ec.gc.ca Nature and EnvironmentSea ice-ocean forecastPredictionRegionalForecastingIceWaterArcticCoastal watersOceansPolar regionsProvide Weather Information Products and ServicesDeliver Weather Products and Services to ClientsMeteorological Service of CanadaWeather and Environmental OperationsUnclassifiedInternational MSC DatamartNetCDF https://dd.weather.gc.ca/model_riops/netcdf/forecast/polar_stereographic/ MSC DatamartNetCDF https://dd.meteo.gc.ca/model_riops/netcdf/forecast/polar_stereographic/ MSC Datamart AMQPNetCDF amqps://dd.weather.gc.ca/model_riops.netcdf.forecast.polar_stereographic.# MSC Datamart AMQPNetCDF amqps://dd.meteo.gc.ca/model_riops.netcdf.forecast.polar_stereographic.# Sea temperature [K]WMS https://geo.weather.gc.ca/geomet?lang=en&service=WMS&request=GetCapabilities&layers=RIOPS_VOTEMPER_DBS-0.5m Sea temperature [K]WMS https://geo.meteo.gc.ca/geomet?lang=fr&service=WMS&request=GetCapabilities&layers=RIOPS_VOTEMPER_DBS-0.5m MSC Open Data documentationHTML https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_riops/readme_riops_en/ MSC Open Data documentationHTML https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_riops/readme_riops_fr/
