Census division 2016

Census division 2016 Group of neighbouring municipalities joined together for the purposes of regional planning and managing common services (such as police or ambulance services). These groupings are established under laws in effect in certain provinces of Canada. Census division (CD) is the general term for provincially legislated areas (such as county, municipalité régionale de comté and regional district) or their equivalents. In other provinces and the territories where laws do not provide for such areas, Statistics Canada defines equivalent areas for statistical reporting purposes in cooperation with these provinces and territories. Census divisions are intermediate geographic areas between the province/territory level and the municipality (census subdivision). Census divisions (CD) have been established in provincial law to facilitate regional planning, as well as the provision of services that can be more effectively delivered on a scale larger than a municipality. In Newfoundland and Labrador, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, provincial or territorial law does not provide for these administrative geographic areas. Therefore, Statistics Canada, in cooperation with these provinces and territories, has created equivalent areas called CDs for the purpose of disseminating statistical data. In Yukon, the CD is equivalent to the entire territory. Next to provinces and territories, census divisions (CD) are the most stable administrative geographic areas, and are therefore often used in longitudinal analysis. 2022-03-02 Statistics Canada STATCAN.infostats-infostats.STATCAN@canada.ca Government and PoliticsGeographic dataBoundariesStatisticsCensus Census Division (Layer)WMS https://maps-cartes.services.geo.ca/server2_serveur2/services/StatCan/census_division_2016_en/MapServer/WMSServer?layers=0&legend_format=image%2Fpng&feature_info_type=text%2Fhtml&SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.3.0&REQUEST=GetCapabilities Census division (Layer)WMS https://maps-cartes.services.geo.ca/server2_serveur2/services/StatCan/census_division_2016_fr/MapServer/WMSServer?layers=0&legend_format=image%2Fpng&feature_info_type=text%2Fhtml&SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.3.0&REQUEST=GetCapabilities File geodatabase (english)FGDB/GDB https://ftp.maps.canada.ca/pub/statcan_statcan/Census_Recensement/census-division-2016_division-recensement-2016/census_division_2016_en.gdb.zip File geodatabase (french)FGDB/GDB https://ftp.cartes.canada.ca/pub/statcan_statcan/Census_Recensement/census-division-2016_division-recensement-2016/census_division_2016_fr.gdb.zip MXD file (english)MXD https://ftp.maps.canada.ca/pub/statcan_statcan/Census_Recensement/census-division-2016_division-recensement-2016/Census_Division_2016_en.mxd MXD file (french)MXD https://ftp.cartes.canada.ca/pub/statcan_statcan/Census_Recensement/census-division-2016_division-recensement-2016/Division_de_recensement_2016_fr.mxd 2016 Census - Boundary files (SHP, GML, TAB) - englishHTML https://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/2011/geo/bound-limit/bound-limit-2016-eng.cfm 2016 Census - Boundary files (SHP, GML, TAB) - frenchHTML https://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/2011/geo/bound-limit/bound-limit-2016-fra.cfm Geosuite (english)HTML https://geosuite.statcan.gc.ca/geosuite/en/index Geosuite (french)HTML https://geosuite.statcan.gc.ca/geosuite/fr/index Boundary Files, Reference Guide (english)HTML https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/92-160-g/92-160-g2016002-eng.htm Boundary Files, Reference Guide (french)HTML https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/92-160-g/92-160-g2016002-fra.htm Selection of Statistics Canada socio-economic variables by census division (english)HTML https://gcgeo.gc.ca/geonetwork/metadata/eng/dd684fbd-d675-4200-8a6a-4c04d78d99ec Selection of Statistics Canada socio-economic variables by census division (french)HTML https://gcgeo.gc.ca/geonetwork/metadata/fre/dd684fbd-d675-4200-8a6a-4c04d78d99ec Census DivisionESRI REST https://maps-cartes.services.geo.ca/server2_serveur2/rest/services/StatCan/census_division_2016_en/MapServer/0 Census divisionESRI REST https://maps-cartes.services.geo.ca/server2_serveur2/rest/services/StatCan/census_division_2016_fr/MapServer/0
