Amphibian and Wetland Health Contaminants and Toxicology, Oil Sands Region

Amphibian and Wetland Health Contaminants and Toxicology, Oil Sands Region The health of individual amphibians, amphibian populations, and their wetland habitats are monitored in the oil sands region and at reference locations. Contaminants assessments are done at all sites. Amphibians developing near oil sands activities may be exposed to concentrations of oil sands-related contaminants, through air emissions as well as water contamination. The focus of field investigations is to evaluate the health of wild amphibian populations at varying distances from oil sands operations. Wood frog (Lithobates sylvaticus) populations are being studied in Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories in order to examine the relationship of proximity to oil sands activities and to prevalence of infectious diseases, malformation rates, endocrine and stress responses, genotoxicity, and concentrations of heavy metals, naphthenic acids and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. 2022-05-20 Environment and Climate Change Canada bruce.pauli@canada.ca Health and SafetyNature and EnvironmentScience and Technologyoil sands; monitoring; biodiversity; contaminants; amphibiansNature and Biodiversity - ContaminantsObservation/MeasurementAssess Status of SpeciesProtect Species Well-BeingPrairie - Alberta (AB)Oil sandsGame (Wildlife) Amphibian and Wetland Health Contaminants and Toxicology Data (English)CSV http://donnees.ec.gc.ca/data/species/assess/amphibian-and-wetland-health-contaminants-and-toxicology-oil-sands-region/?lang=en Amphibian and Wetland Health Contaminants and Toxicology Data (French)CSV http://donnees.ec.gc.ca/data/species/assess/amphibian-and-wetland-health-contaminants-and-toxicology-oil-sands-region/?lang=fr Amphibian and Wetland Health Contaminants and ToxicologyESRI REST https://maps-cartes.ec.gc.ca/arcgis/rest/services/OSM/MapServer/5 Amphibian and Wetland Health Contaminants and ToxicologyESRI REST https://maps-cartes.ec.gc.ca/arcgis/rest/services/OSM/MapServer/27 Amphibian and Wetland Health Contaminants and ToxicologyWMS https://maps-cartes.ec.gc.ca/arcgis/services/OSM/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS&layers=40&legend_format=image/png&feature_info_type=text/html Amphibian and Wetland Health Contaminants and ToxicologyWMS https://maps-cartes.ec.gc.ca/arcgis/services/OSM/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS&layers=18&legend_format=image/png&feature_info_type=text/html View ECCC Data Mart (English)HTML http://data.ec.gc.ca/data/species/assess/amphibian-and-wetland-health-contaminants-and-toxicology-oil-sands-region View ECCC Data Mart (French)HTML http://data.ec.gc.ca/data/species/assess/amphibian-and-wetland-health-contaminants-and-toxicology-oil-sands-region?lang=fr
