The Access to Information Act (ATIA) gives Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and other persons and corporations present in Canada the legal right to access records, in any form, that are under the control of a government institution, subject to limited and specific exemptions and exclusions, with decisions on the disclosure of government information reviewed independently of government.
As part of the Government’s commitment to transparency, the Directorate of Access to Information and Privacy (DAIP) at National Defence works continuously to respond to requests related to the ATIA. The following dataset shows the total numbers of information and privacy requests that DAIP has received and closed over a rolling 12 months period of November to October each year.
