Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation 2021

Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation 2021 The Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation (CIMD) is an area-based index which used 2021 Census of Population microdata to measure four key dimensions of deprivation at the dissemination area (DA)-level: residential instability, economic dependency, situational vulnerability and ethno-cultural composition. Using factor analysis, DA-level factor scores were calculated for each dimension. Within a dimension, ordered scores were assigned a quintile value, 1 through 5, where 1 represents the least deprived and 5 represents the most deprived. The CIMD allows for an understanding of inequalities in various measures of health and social well-being. While it is a geographically-based index of deprivation and marginalization, it can also be used as a proxy for an individual. The CIMD has the potential to be widely used by researchers on a variety of topics related to socio-economic research. Other uses for the index may include: policy planning and evaluation, or resource allocation. 2024-07-02 Statistics Canada STATCAN.infostats-infostats.STATCAN@canada.ca Economics and IndustryHealth and SafetySociety and CulturesocietyeconomystatisticshealthSocioeconomic dataStatisticsGeographic dataEconomy Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation 2021ESRI REST https://maps-cartes.services.geo.ca/server2_serveur2/rest/services/StatCan/multiple_deprivation_2021/MapServer Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation 2021ESRI REST https://maps-cartes.services.geo.ca/server2_serveur2/rest/services/StatCan/defavorisation_multiple_2021/MapServer Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation 2021WMS https://maps-cartes.services.geo.ca/server2_serveur2/services/StatCan/multiple_deprivation_2021/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation 2021WMS https://maps-cartes.services.geo.ca/server2_serveur2/services/StatCan/defavorisation_multiple_2021/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS ESRI Geodatabase FileFGDB/GDB https://ftp.maps.canada.ca/pub/statcan_statcan/Economic-indicators_Indicateur-economique/multiple_deprivation/2021/multiple_deprivation_2021.gdb.zip ArcMap Project FileMXD https://ftp.maps.canada.ca/pub/statcan_statcan/Economic-indicators_Indicateur-economique/multiple_deprivation/2021/multiple_deprivation_2021.mxd ArcMap Project FileMXD https://ftp.maps.canada.ca/pub/statcan_statcan/Economic-indicators_Indicateur-economique/multiple_deprivation/2021/defavorisation_multiple_2021.mxd Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation: Dataset and User GuideHTML https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/en/catalogue/45200001 Dictionary, Census of Population, 2021 - Dissemination area (DA)HTML https://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/2021/ref/dict/az/Definition-eng.cfm?ID=geo021 Dictionary, Census of Population, 2021 - Dissemination area (DA)HTML https://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/2021/ref/dict/az/Definition-fra.cfm?ID=geo021 Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation: Dataset and User GuideHTML https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/fr/catalogue/45200001 ESRI Geodatabase FileFGDB/GDB https://ftp.maps.canada.ca/pub/statcan_statcan/Economic-indicators_Indicateur-economique/multiple_deprivation/2021/multiple_deprivation_2021.gdb.zip
