Request Summary: Mike Hack was convicted of murder in the Court of King's Bench for the Judicial District of Melville on October 5, 1928 and was sentenced to death by hanging. Subsequent to the conviction an appeal for commutation of the sentence was made to the Minister of Justice by Percy Anderson, Mr. Hack's counsel. The Federal Cabinet met to discuss the appeal sometime in the first half of January, 1929. The Order-in-Council denying the appeal was received in Regina on January 15. I am seeking the minutes of the Cabinet meeting at which the case was discussed, and a copy of the resulting Order-in-Council.
