Request Summary: I am reaching out to seek your assistance in obtaining information from CMHC regarding the federal government's Limited Dividend Program. This program played a crucial role in delivering low to moderate rental units to the market, starting in the late 1930s, and was a significant part of the Assisted Private Rental Program, initiated with the National Housing Act in 1938 under Section 15 (formerly Section 13, Limited Dividend). Originally financed through a combination of federal and private loans, the program underwent a transformative shift in 1954 when it became exclusively supported by a direct federal loan. In my pursuit of a thorough understanding of this historical initiative, I am seeking any available data that the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) might possess.
