Req # A-2019-15347

I have been looking for the personal case file for Noboru Uyeyama, who was a Japanese Canadian born in Nanaimo, B.C. on March 20, 1916. I have his death certificate. He died on December 17, 1975 in Nanaimo. At first, I did a Access to Information Request in relation to the Office of the Custodian of Enemy Property. However, there was only a one page letter in the file. I know that he was interned in the POW camp in Angler, Ontario, and that he was released and was sent to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan after the war. There must have been a file when he was in Angler. Therefore, I am specifically requesting access to any RCMP files about him. Hopefully, the RCMP files were not destroyed. I understand that some were kept and some were not. I also know that Noburo and his family went to Japan in 1946, and that he did not return to Canada until the late 1950s.
